On Top of the Duomo

On Top of the Duomo

Nothing like a bowl of plain yogurt topped with hemp and flax seeds to remind me that we’re not in Europe anymore. Add a side of taking a backup of this site this morning, since I accidentally crashed it yesterday evening (totally a P1 situation over here but I handled it with my signature grace and frenzy) and I’m starting to get a serious case of the reality checks.

Where’s my croissant and cappuccino? Where is the beautiful architecture asking to be photographed from a thousand different angles, the narrow alleyways with cute shops and restaurants waiting to be discovered, and all the delicious food and wine that needs to be savored.  Maybe that’s the real P1?

Well, luckily, I’ve got a temporary fix for that. Let’s just stare at these photos and daydream that we’re right back there looking at this beauty…

The Duomo

Not all the must-see sights you hear about are really worth it (at least not to me), but I am particularly fond of the Duomo. You’ve got to climb the 463 steps to get to the top of the cupola for the best views, but it’s totally worth it.

And if you want to get the full experience, you can see the Opera Del Duomo Museum, climb up another 414 steps in Giotto’s Bell Tower (for good views of the Duomo), and visit the Baptistery.
